Stock Profile: uWink (UWNK.OB)

Company: uWink
Symbol:
UWNK.OB
Profile: uWink is the brain child of Nolan Bushnell, a man instrumental in the development of Pong and the Atari 2600. He also played a significant role in building the Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza chain. uWink is a bistro / restaurant designed to give patrons a "social experience" and provides video screens for ordering food, and playing trivia games.

I wish I had spotted this one a little earlier.

Nolan Bushnell, one of the men who engineered Atari’s massively successful home version of Pong and the Atari 2600 is running a company called uWink. uWink is a café / bistro that features an electronic menu, video games centered on trivia and pop culture, and uWink’s target demographic is women.

One of the interesting things uWink isn’t doing is violent video games reasoning that women are generally turned off by them. Skee-ball is out too. Bushnell envisions uWink as “a social experience” and not a gaming experience. While games are central to the restaurant’s success, uWink doesn’t want to be thought of a as an arcade company like Dave and Busters or Game Works.

Stock in uWink trades on the pink sheets and has just dropped in value. If you’ve been looking to get in on the ground floor of something this is a stock you might want to consider. uWink doesn’t trade on any major exchanges so you’ll probably have to pay a little extra in trading commission fees to buy it.
